Lets face it, floor scrubbers operate in dirt. They suck up all of the dirt, contaminants, dust and debris most other types of equipment try to avoid. Because these machines work in a wet environment, dirt sticks to the insides of hoses, solution lines and filters and eventually finds it's way into electronics, controls, and a variety of other places. This operating environment, along with normal mechanical wear and tear makes preventive scrubber maintenance a must to get maximum life out of your machine.
Periodic maintenance should include inspection of crucial areas that need to be checked on a regular basis. These include hoses, filters, linkages, grease fittings, drive motors, brush motors, vacuum motors, actuator motors, solenoids, squeegees and batteries - these are just some of the items that need routine maintenance. Correcting small problems in these areas will prevent more costly repairs later on and keep your floor equipment operating at peak performance.
Recommended daily operator procedures for keeping your floor scrubber in top shape:
1) Raise the squeegees and wipe blades down with a damp towel. Store squeegee in the UP position.
2) Raise squeegee bar, tilt machine back, and remove and clean pad drivers and brushes.
3) Drain and rinse recovery and solution tanks, remove recovery tank lid and remove drain hose cap to allow tank and hose to dry out.
4) Remove recovery tank filter and rinse filter with clean water.
5) Wipe down the machine
6) Check the battery fluid levels and recharge batteries after use.
